Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are (Data Controller)

MyJobFinder ("we", "us", "our") operates the platform at myjobfinder.org and is the data controller for personal data you provide when using the platform. For all data protection enquiries please raise a support request through the website.

MyJobFinder operates in the United Kingdom and this Policy is written in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: name, email address, role (tradesman or client), and password (stored hashed).
  • Profile information: trade, bio, city, postcode, hourly rate, avatar, portfolio images.
  • Job & message content: job postings, photos, quotes, in-app messages, and reviews.
  • Payment information: handled directly by our payment processor (Stripe). We never see or store your full card details.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device info, and pages visited, used for security and to keep the service running.

3. How & Why We Use Your Information (Lawful Basis)

  • To provide the platform (contract): create your account, show your profile, deliver messages, process subscriptions.
  • To keep it safe (legitimate interests): fraud prevention, abuse detection, audit logs.
  • To notify you about your account (contract): job replies, messages, receipts, password resets.
  • To comply with UK law (legal obligation): tax records, responding to lawful requests.

We do not use your personal data for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell your data to third parties.

4. Who We Share It With

  • Other users: your public profile (name, trade, city, bio, rating, portfolio) is visible to other users. Job messages are visible to the other participant in that conversation.
  • Stripe — payment processing (data may be transferred outside the UK under Standard Contractual Clauses).
  • Supabase / Lovable Cloud — hosting and database provider.
  • Email delivery provider — sends account and notification emails on our behalf.
  • Legal authorities — where required by UK law or to protect our users.

5. Cookies

We only use strictly necessary cookies to sign you in and keep the site secure. We do not run advertising cookies or third-party analytics that track you across sites. Because these cookies are essential, they don't require consent under PECR, but we still show you a notice on your first visit.

6. Data Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed. Access to database records is protected by row-level security so users can only see data they're entitled to. No online service is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

7. Data Retention

We keep account and profile data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account we remove your personal profile data within 30 days, except for information we must keep to comply with UK law (e.g. payment/tax records — up to 7 years) or to protect our users (e.g. records of banned users to prevent re-registration).

8. Your Rights (UK GDPR)

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten") — you can delete your account from your profile page.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent).
  • Complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk — but please contact us first so we can try to help.

To exercise any of these rights, use the support section on our website to get in touch. We aim to respond within 30 days.

9. International Transfers

Some of our service providers (e.g. Stripe) may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the UK Government's approved safeguards such as adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Third-Party Links

The platform may contain links to third-party sites. Their privacy practices are their own — please read their policies before providing any personal information.

11. Children

MyJobFinder is only for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, contact us immediately and we'll delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via the platform. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
